Also the costs in the management accounting and the principles of the budgeting and reporting of the company are explained in detail.

Information technology is an essential accounting tool. Amongst other applications, it is used to automate transactions and business processes, streamline reporting and support business analysis. This subject covers the critical evaluation and design of accounting information systems (AIS) and their use in managerial decision-making. It provides both a theoretical and practical understanding of AIS in a broader industry and corporate setting. Emphasis is placed on AIS and technology, control mechanisms, data analysis and reporting. The applied nature of the subject enables the development of practical skills in using accounting software for transaction processing and decision support.

Management accounting’s role in designing and operating organisational systems that direct, motivate and evaluate employee action. Associations and information flows between strategic plans and budget targets, measures and incentives are examined.

Accounting Practice and Reporting extends both the knowledge and skills developed in Fundamentals of Accounting  (ACCT1001). This course aims to give students an understanding of the fundamental principles underpinning accrual accounting and financial reporting and develops their the technical skills of accounting, including the analysis, recording, preparation and interpretation of accounting information. This course also develops professional skills that are necessary for accounting profession.

This subject provides a broad and important foundation in key accounting concepts, tools, and processes of the discipline. Students will learn to apply fundamental accounting concepts and procedures to prepare and interpret basic financial statements for different types of business entities. Both manual and computerised accounting systems are used to demonstrate the accounting process. Users of financial information and the decisions they make based on accounting information are considered throughout the subject.
