Let's hop to it!

the rundown

Imagine studying in an Australian castle overlooking spectacular Manly Beach, soaking in both knowledge and sun. That's what the International College of Management Sydney (or ICMS for short) is all about. It's a special place where students from over 40 countries come together, learning from professors who are industry leaders in their fields, managing hotels, executing events, and more. A stunning campus in an equally stunning city.

your academic journey

ICMS isn't your typical college. It started off focusing on hospitality and tourism but has grown into a hub for all things business. Whether you're into accounting, sports management, or event planning, they've got you covered. And for hospitality students, there's an exclusive opportunity to intern at Sydney’s five-star hotels over the summer— and yes, it's paid!

  • Nestled atop a picturesque cliff and overlooking Sydney Harbour, the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS), known fondly as "the castle on the hill," is more than just a breathtaking landmark. This historical gem, originally constructed between 1885 and 1889 as St Patrick’s College, was the first National Catholic Seminary in Australia, designed in an exquisite blend of Neo-Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles. Now, it stands as a premier destination for over 1,800 international students, offering degrees across a variety of disciplines.

  • ICSM is all about equipping students with top-tier skills and knowledge to thrive in their chosen fields— that’s what has landed them in Australia's top programs for hospitality and event management.

    Some standout areas include:

    • Business & Management – Explore entrepreneurship, international business, and sustainable leadership in a global context.

    • Hospitality & Tourism – With courses in luxury hotel management, event production, gastronomy, and global tourism strategy.

    • Event & Sports Management – From event design and production to sports facilities management, students gain practical skills in fast-paced industries.

    • Communication & Marketing – Dive into creativity, brand strategy, and innovation to stay ahead in today’s media-driven world.

    • Hotel & Service Management – Learn the art and science of delivering world-class guest experiences through immersive, hands-on training.

Hospitality & Tourism

This unique opportunity is tailored for study abroad hospitality students who need the internship component without committing to the full ICMS degree program. We can’t stress enough what a unique opportunity this is with the bonus of Australia’s minimum wage being high by global standards. Whether you’re mixing it up behind the bar, managing front of house operations, or ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, you are not only building the skills that future employers want to see, but you are adding an international experience to your resume.

Brands You Can Intern With

Some of the leading hotel brands that make up the ICMS internship program:

  • Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts

  • Four Seasons

  • Marriott

  • InterContinental Hotels & Resorts

Whether you're working in luxury hotels, tourism, or event venues, it’s the perfect way to build your resume, expand your global network, and make the most of your time Down Under.

Mira

Bryant University

"I’m so beyond thankful for Hop! Studying abroad can be overwhelming at times, but having this program made all the difference for me. It gave me the chance to meet so many amazing people who turned into real friends, try so many new things, and feel genuinely supported while navigating life in a new country.

From the Byron Bay orientation to our trip to the zoo, every moment felt so special. Cairns was unforgettable, especially seeing the Great Barrier Reef in person, and exploring Melbourne (plus going to an AFL game!) was such a highlight.

What really stood out to me was the support system Hop created. Having people constantly looking out for you made everything feel less scary and so much more meaningful.

My study abroad experience truly would not have been the same without Hop. I’m so grateful for every memory, every person, and every opportunity it gave me."

Walter

Michigan State University

"Growing up, I was a huge fan of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. He inspired me a lot to get into my major and study wildlife. Australia is about as wild as it gets. Right now, I am living the best life."

Gabby

University of Florida

“Studying abroad with Hop has truly been the best decision I have ever made. In a short amount of time, I have explored the lively rainforests and the shimmering Great Barrier Reef. I've climbed mountains, sat at the edge of waterfalls, and even surfed the waves of the Gold Coast. I've met so many new friends from different backgrounds who unite on the same goal of discovering and learning, and I couldn’t have done that without Hop.”
