the rundown
Step into your future in Vietnam’s historic capital. Hanoi is a city where thousand-year-old temples stand beside French architecture, where policy conversations unfold over strong coffee, and where tradition and modern ambition move side by side. This is a city rooted in meaning. You’ll intern with healthcare partners shaping Southeast Asia’s future. Outside the workplace, you’ll wander the Old Quarter, reflect by Hoan Kiem Lake, explore northern Vietnam’s landscapes, and immerse yourself in a culture that values history, resilience, and community.

your academic journey
In Hanoi, your academic journey unfolds at the intersection of tradition and transformation. As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in pre-med, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy, while earning academic credit through structured reflection and mentorship. This isn’t shadowing from the sidelines—you’ll contribute to real projects, collaborate across cultures, and develop professional skills in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic capitals. With guided advising, goal setting, and ongoing support, your internship becomes more than work experience—it becomes a meaningful step toward your global career.

Summer General Clinical Internships
The General Clinical Internship is designed for undergraduate students in pre-med, pre-nursing, public health, and related health sciences who seek broad exposure to hospital-based clinical practice.
Students join the hospital’s clinical externship program, which emphasizes multi-department observation. The internship introduces participants to patient care, medical procedures, and the Vietnamese healthcare system, providing a solid foundation for future healthcare professionals.
Main tasks include shadowing ward rounds, surgical procedures and post-operative care under the guidance of doctors and nurses in various hospital departments, observe clinical activities in Emergency, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, ICU, and Rehabilitation. You will be exposed to the role of diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, lab tests) in supporting clinical decision-making and learn about infection control, hospital workflow, and patient record management. You will participate in reflective sessions on medical ethics, cross-cultural patient care, and healthcare challenges in Vietnam.
You'll intern for eight weeks at Viet Duc University Hospital in Hanoi. Established in 1906, this is Vietnam's premier surgical and trauma center, with over 1,500 beds and a strong reputation for advanced surgery and patient care. Located in central Hanoi, the hospital is also a major teaching and research institution, training thousands of medical students, nurses, and specialists each year.
