Ecotechnology (Ecological engineering) is the design of sustainable ecosystems that integrate human society with its natural environment for the benefit of both. The task of the course is to give introductory overview on different ecotechnologies: general principles of ecological engineering, ecological architecture, building and assessment of sustainability of materials and technologies (e.g. life cycle assessment, planning of sustainable buildings, sustainable building materials, natural paints, energy saving technologies of buildings, passive energy in buildings, passive houses, indoor climate), sustainable water management and treatment technologies (e.g. green infrastructures, sustainable drainage systems, constructed wetlands); ecosystem restoration and ecotechnologies in sustainable agriculture. As a part of the course students have to write and present report based on scientific papers.

The course gives knowledge of basic electroanalytical techniques classified under two principal groups of methods: potentiometry and voltammetry. In addition, an introduction to electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and coulometry is given. The course includes theoretical basis, analytical capabilities, and practical applications.

The course consists of lectures and seminars connected to Estonia and Estonians. The courses and seminars offer several possibilities to compare Estonia with other countries, especially the ones where exchange students are from. During the course, students will get to discover Estonia and also share their personal experiences in Estonia. (The most important problems of Estonian culture are analyzed both in historical perspective as well as in relation to contemporary developments. The main stages in the development of Estonian culture, important persons. The relations of Estonian folklore, customs and beliefs with contemporaray Estonian society. Modern Estonian culture, media and culture, cultural establishments)

The course covers the period from the end of Ancient Estonia (early 13th century) until the end of the 20th century. In addition to providing basic outline of political history, the lecturer will discuss main developments in social and cultural history and the most important historiographical debates of last decades. Throughout the course, the history in Estonia will be studied in wider regional context.

The course will provide an overview of legal reforms in various disciplines comprising Estonian private law such as the laws regulating contracts, property relations, family relations, inheritance law. These developments will be explored from the perspective of legal institutions necessary for creation of a vigorous market economy, novel approaches to harmonisation of national law with private law of European Union (EU), Estonia's unique experience in the protection of fundamental human rights through private law, and significant problems of marketplace economics encountered in the transition. Main concepts of private law (general part of civil law, contract law, special contracts, extra-contractual relations, marital contract, marital property relations) will be studied. Special attention will be given to the harmonization of Estonian contract law with European contract law.

The lectures and computational lab sessions will cover the necessary engineering aspects for designing an imaging system and analyze its characteristics in spatial and spectral coordinates.
