The course will discuss transnational crimes and the mechanisms, by which States cooperate with each other and with international institutions in order to enforce their national criminal law. Topics discussed include: human trafficking, money laundering, trafficking in illegal items (drugs, weapons, antiquities, flora and fauna, body parts), and other transnational crimes. Also discussed are the main aspects of EU criminal law including: the history and institutions of EU criminal law (including the evolution of the third pillar and its relationship with EC law); harmonization in criminal law and procedure (with emphasis on competence questions); mutual recognition in criminal matters (including the operation of the European Arrest Warrant) and accompanying measures; action by EU bodies facilitating police and judicial co-operation in criminal matters (such as Europol, Eurojust and OLAF); the collection and exchange of personal data, in particular via EU databases and co-operation between law enforcement authorities; and the external dimension of EU action in criminal matters, including EU-US counter-terrorism co-operation.

Basic knowledge of Turkish. Rules of orthography and orthoepy. Stress in the word and sentence. Principles of word construction and methods of using vocabularies. Reading, listening, translation and interpretation of different texts and dialogues. Attainment of thematic vocabulary. Discussing situations from everyday life. Grammar topics: word classes, case system, simple tenses of verbs. A1 level will be obtained at the end of the course.

The course is designed to target the students whose command of Turkish equals to A1 level (Breakthrough) according to ELP (the European language Portfolio). Development of pronunciation skills; sevelopment of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills by means of interactive and communicative activities; systematic overview of Turkish grammar; thematic vocabulary expansion. The pre-requisite for the registration is A1 level in Turkish.

Prerequisite is Turkish A2. Development of reading, listening, speaking and writing skills by means of studying texts and dialogues. Exercises for the purpose of fixing communicative skills. Applying oral skills in everyday situations: work and holidays, receiving guests, travelling, medical services, in bank, in a tourist office, in a shop, in a business company.
