Post-war literature (Cela, Laforet, Delibes) and the social poetry (Celaya, Blas de Otero). Review of recent Spanish literature (García Morales, Llamazares, Montero, Millás, Ruiz Zafón, Pérez-Reverte). Each unit of the course will start with a written text presenting a context which is controversial in the current sociopolitical scene in Spain or any other Spanish speaking countries. Attention will be paid to new lexis, specially the one offering the students a higher register for their future compositions. A deeper study of each unit’s controversial contexts will be carried out through a video (short movie, documentary...) to work the oral comprehension. Next a new grammar notion will be studied and will also be linked to the kind of academic text that the students will have to produce (after analysing an example). The unit will end with an oral debate about the topic seen throught the unit. The pre-requisite for the registration is B2.2 level in Spanish.TERM

Grammar: Production of complex expressions, such as relative clauses naturally and accurately. Not personal forms of the verb. Contrast of the subjunctive-indicative mood. Expression of the probability and of the condition. Reported speech. Passive voice. Use and non-use of articles. Writing skills: Write short essay about the topics discussed during the classes. Express ideas accurately and fluently in writing. Listening, reading and understanding: speaking fluently, accuracy in structure and syntax, interpreting spoken material, Internet messages, lectures and other materials spoken using a variety of regional dialects. Contemporary Poland and Ukraine are countries with complicated and mutually entangled histories. The course offers a look at these histories from the perspective of national cultures. The students will be introduced to a broad selection of artistic production from Poland and Ukraine (literature and film) and encouraged to connect them to the relevant social phenomena. Combination of broad theoretical frameworks and specific case studies will help to see the history of the region in a larger context. The key questions that go throughout the course are: how do we define a national culture and whose voices have a right to contribute to, and claim it?TERM

To be eligible for a Hop Education Abroad program, students must be currently enrolled at a degree-granting college or university, have completed at least one year of their undergraduate studies prior to departure, and be in good academic standing at their home institution.

Tallinn University requires good academic standing and approval from your home institution. There is no minimum GPA.
