This course aims to introduce the intersection of artificial intelligence, theoretical semantics, and natural language logic. Students will learn various topics, including fundamental concepts of semantics and logic, principles of natural language processing, word vectorization, context understanding, semantic analysis, and logical form.

This course will explore the connections between individual topics and how various methodologies utilizing artificial intelligence can help solve problems in Materials Science. Students will develop the ability to solve problems through practical examples using various information technologies, centered on the Python programming language.

This course is designed to investigate the scientific study of abnormal thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in human beings that cause distress and impairment. We will begin the course by considering the history of the field and ways of defining and diagnosing, assessing, and treating human abnormality in a general sense. We then move on to study a variety of specific mental disorders (e.g., anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood disorders and schizophrenia) with an emphasis on the DSM-5 criteria and some etiological theories (theories of cause) for each disorder studied.

This course provides an immersive cultural experience where students are welcomed into Aboriginal spaces to engage with cultural knowledge on our terms. Through direct participation in a range of practices such as storytelling, art, weaving, dance, food, language, and music, students will gain a deeper understanding of Aboriginal ways of knowing and being.

This course explores the impacts of colonial policies and challenges faced by Aboriginal students, families and communities when accessing the schooling system. Students learn about best practice approaches for creating culturally responsive schools, and gain an awareness of their responsibility to deliver Aboriginal histories, cultures and languages in teaching and learning. This course also centres relationship building and collaboration between teachers and their learning communities.

This course explores the impacts of the legal histories and contemporary issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in an Australian legal context. Students will gain an understanding of British colonial law as a tool of colonisation and invasion. The course examines several legal cases, the doctrine of terra nullius, criminalisation, and Black deaths in custody. The course also examines contemporary social and economic issues stemming from broader colonial legal systems including the over- representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the criminal justice system, child protection, youth justice, land rights and Native Title. In considering remedies, the course highlights the importance of self-determination in solutions such as circle sentencing, justice reinvestment and other community-based approaches.
