It explores the philosophical underpinnings of digital decentralisation, the socio-political implications of emerging technologies, and their transformative impact on creative practices and global industry structures. Students will engage critically with how technological advancements reshape economic models, cultural narratives, and modes of creative expression. Through seminars, practical case studies, and interactive discussions, students will investigate a wide array of topics, from Web3 and blockchain to digital content monetisation and the shifting dynamics of creative labour. They will explore how economic models shape creative outputs, the ethical considerations of curation in GLAM sectors, and strategies for sustainability in individual and collective creative practices. The module encourages students to position themselves within this rapidly changing landscape, combining theoretical exploration with practical skill-building. Key topics include the construction of brand narratives, the economics of streaming platforms, the mechanics of videogame story- world monetisation, and the practicalities of freelancing versus direct employment. Students will also learn about trade unions, funding strategies, and building viable creative businesses, fostering a holistic understanding of career pathways in the digital era.

    This course is well-suited for students whose majors are non-sciences and sciences with a little background in sustainable geosciences, and who are beginning their journey on earth, environment and sustainability because it provides a solid foundation in the fundamental geological processes and how these processes relate to environmental issues and sustainability. It equips students with the knowledge to assess and address environmental problems through a geological perspective, which is essential for pursuing sustainable solutions. In addition, this course explores the sustainable management of natural resources such as water, minerals, and energy sources. Also, the course addresses the environmental consequences of resource extraction and use, advocating for sustainable practices that minimize environmental degradation, and climate change impacting earth including humans. The class includes topics such as water pollution, natural hazards like earthquakes and landslides, and the geological aspects of resource depletion. A significant part of the course deals with human impacts on the earth system. Our class also examines how activities such as mining, deforestation, and urban development affect geological and hydrological systems and how these impacts can be managed or mitigated through sustainable practices.

This course is both theoretical and practical and focuses on the most important aspects of accounting, analysis, and valuation. Both engaging and relevant, the course uses contemporary case studies of well-known companies. Even if you have no financial/accounting knowledge or experience, you can do well on this course and the learning will be valuable and complimentary to your own major. You will collaborate extensively with your international peers to prepare a comprehensive analysis and presentation of a company of your group’s choice. Such interaction will take place during and outside of class and in the physical classrooms. Your instructor will regularly promote and support such collaborative activities, helping you develop your research, analytical, presentation and communication competencies in an international and intercultural environment.

  • To be eligible for a Hop Education Abroad program, students must be currently enrolled at a degree-granting college or university, have completed at least one year of their undergraduate studies prior to departure, and be in good academic standing at their home institution.

    We do not have a set GPA requirement to participate in our programs—we believe in making global experiences as accessible as possible. However, some of our international university partners or your home institution may set their own academic eligibility criteria. 

    Korea University has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5.

Living on-campus at Korea University is super convenient for accessing facilities and joining in on student club events. The on-campus accommodation includes three buildings housing over 700 local and international students, located on a hill above central campus for easy access to classes and social spots. Each building has fully-furnished, air-conditioned rooms and kitchen facilities for making quick meals or snacks. Room types vary across the three dorms. Amenities include Wi-Fi, shared bathrooms, common rooms, a fitness center, and a laundry room. You can also get meal plans for the central cafeteria, which serves three meals a day.
