    The course gives an overview of basic concepts related to the role of culture and creativity in economy, innovation and its spill-overs to rest of society. Culture and creativity plays increasingly important role in creating jobs and growth, finding innovative solutions to major challenges, developing products and services, creating attractive urban living environment, promoting countries and cities and encouraging tourism etc. The subject gives a comprehensive overview of good practices across Europe and rest of the world in developing creative entrepreneurship models, creative economy strategies, setting up innovative financing models and facilitating access to finance, creating physical and virtual spaces, supporting clustering and networking, capacity building, internationalisation and export initiatives, and effectively managing creative teams and processes.

The aim is to make students work along and think “outside of the box” by using different creative thinking methods. Students must participate actively in the group discussions and individual/group exercises. In every lesson students will learn about new creative thinking methods, they will be given tasks in the class and home work based on those methods. The course is designed to develop further with the students input and theme of the lectures might change according to the students development.

    Critical thinking is a course consisting of examples, exercises and practical tasks and it aims to: 1) teach the new undergraduate students to think logically, to define an object under research, to draw conclusions etc.; 2) recognise the typical mistakes of argumentation and definition; 3) teach students to compile analytical discussions and texts and to analyse other given texts critically. Exercises and practical tasks will be used to explore the following topics: Differences between knowledge and beliefs; Logical arguments, their types and typical argumentation fallacies; Wishful thinking, rhetorical deception and other types for distorting meaning; Definitions and opportunities for defining; Certainty, probability and plausibility in arguments and deductions; Discourse and (critical) discourse analysis; Options for textual criticism deriving from various theories and methodological approaches: criticism of power (authority) and ideology; Psychoanalytic, semiotic, naturalistic, utilitarian, consequentionalistic, and deontological options for argumentation and criticism.

    The notion of Culture. Reformation, Baroque and Enlightenment, 19the Century developments, the change of century, 20th Century wars and changes in political regime. The story of Austrian-Hungarian monarchy. the choices of Switzerland (Swiss Confederation). Select biographies of important cultural / historical figures of German speaking countries. Estonia and German speaking cultural space. A student may miss a maximum of 6 classes, if this is exceeded the student should contact lecturer for additional individual work to compensate for the classes missed.

    Dance Composition for Camera

    The course focuses on acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Working with concepts such as movement, composition, footage, angles and light. During the process, different roles are experienced and tested by working as a producer, director, dancer, choreographer and operator. Process-based learning requires participation in auditory work (min. 85%). Independent work includes the preparation of choreographic material, pre-production, filming and the post-production (editing, etc.). Also the viewing and reflecting of explanatory study materials, reading of the articles and compulsory literature sent by the lecturer, and the attendance of the relevant events and the keeping of a study journal.

Using opaque colours. Relationship between colour, form and space. Organization of painting surface, proportions, rhythms. Impartation of different materials. Painting a portrait.

  • To be eligible for a Hop Education Abroad program, students must be currently enrolled at a degree-granting college or university, have completed at least one year of their undergraduate studies prior to departure, and be in good academic standing at their home institution.

    We do not have a set GPA requirement to participate in our programs—we believe in making global experiences as accessible as possible. However, some of our international university partners or your home institution may set their own academic eligibility criteria. 

    Tallinn University requires good academic standing and approval from your home institution. There is no minimum GPA.
