The course gives an overview of the history and development of Chinese script and its practical usages. During the course will be introduced different styles of calligraphy and significant calligraphers in the history. Also there will be explained the structure of character and the compositional elements of calligraphy works. The course introduces the use of materials and tools in calligraphy and writing rules, as well as eight basic types of strokes and their variations used in writing characters. The students will learn the meaning of few Chinese characters and the way how to write correctly these characters. They will learn the nature of calligraphy through practical works.TERM

The course introduces Pinyin Romanization system of Chinese language and gives an introduction to pronunciation of Chinese words. Following topics are covered in this class: greetings; daily life; identifying people; asking for direction; giving advice; university study; family; likes and dislikes; making an appointment; making apology. During the course will be learned to read and write 350 Chinese characters and their usage in sentences. There will be learned basic Chinese grammar, such as word order in sentence, main strokes of characters, yes-no questions, questions with an iterrogative pronoun, combined character strokes, numeral-measure words as attributives, optative verbs etc.TERM

To be eligible for a Hop Education Abroad program, students must be currently enrolled at a degree-granting college or university, have completed at least one year of their undergraduate studies prior to departure, and be in good academic standing at their home institution.
We do not have a set GPA requirement to participate in our programs—we believe in making global experiences as accessible as possible. However, some of our international university partners or your home institution may set their own academic eligibility criteria.
Tallinn University requires good academic standing and approval from your home institution. There is no minimum GPA.
